Dr. Jacobs joined CVBT in April 2000. Previously he served as Director of Basic Research at the Hitachi Chemical Research Center in Irvine, California, and as an adjunct Professor of Biological Chemistry at University of California-Irvine’s College of Medicine.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Jacobs worked for Merck & Co. Inc. as the head of their Department of Biological Chemistry at the Merck Sharp & Dohm Research Laboratories in West Point, Pennsylvania, and as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry at the University of Texas Health Center. Dr. Jacobs received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Washington University School of Medicine, and his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Davidson College.
